The auto-level control system uses an electronic level sensor - an accelerometer or inclinometer - to determine how much each jack needs to extend to bring the coach to level. When this sensor drifts from its calibrated reference, the system extends jacks to an incorrect endpoint. Miami's road surfaces - particularly the washboarding common on access roads to Everglades campgrounds and the speed bump density in Miami-Dade parking areas - subject the sensor to vibration that can shift its zero reference. The symptom is an auto-level sequence that completes normally and reports "leveled," but a physical bubble level placed inside shows the coach is still noticeably off. The fix is electronic recalibration, not hydraulic work.

Calibration on Lippert OneControl systems is performed through the touchscreen panel using a menu sequence that is not in the standard owner manual - it is in the installation and service documentation. The coach must be on a surface that is verified level with a precision torpedo level before initiating the calibration. We physically level the coach on jackstands before the calibration sequence to ensure the new reference point is accurate. HWH systems use a different calibration sequence through the HWH handheld remote or through a diagnostic port connection. We bring the correct interfaces and service documentation for both systems to every leveling call in Miami-Dade.

In some cases, the level sensor has not just drifted but has physically failed - producing erratic readings that change with vibration or temperature. A failed sensor typically causes the auto-level to behave erratically: sometimes completing the sequence quickly (it thinks it is already level), sometimes running jacks to their maximum travel and stopping on an error. A sensor that passes basic calibration but fails again within a day or two of normal driving has physically degraded and needs replacement. Sensor replacement is a $150-240 repair that includes the new sensor, installation, and recalibration in a single service call.

Miami campground surfaces vary significantly in levelness and load-bearing capacity. Larry and Penny Thompson Memorial Park has well-maintained level pads at most sites; Miami Everglades Resort and Homestead Campground have more variation, with some sites on grass or slightly sloped surfaces that require the leveling system to work harder. For auto-level systems, a surface that slopes more than 5-6 degrees in any direction can exceed the jack travel capacity of the system before levelness is achieved. In these cases, the auto-level reports an error and stops rather than completing the cycle. Wheel chocks and leveling blocks used to bring the RV closer to level before deploying the auto-level allow the jacks to complete the cycle successfully. We carry a set of Lynx leveling blocks on our service vans and include level surface preparation advice in our leveling system service calls.
The level sensor has drifted from calibration. Electronic recalibration on a verified-level surface resolves this in 30-45 minutes.
$120-180 at your Miami-Dade location. Flat-rate before dispatch.
The calibration procedure is not in the standard owner manual and requires the coach to be on a verified-level surface before initiating. Incorrect calibration makes the problem worse. We recommend professional calibration.
